FREE GARMENT COST CALCULATOR
Understand the cost before the commitment.
Use finished garment weight and your own fabric and CMT prices to build a transparent planning estimate in USD.
Every step, explained.
1. Fabric = finished weight in kg × fabric price/kg
2. Waste = fabric cost × 10%
3. Direct cost = fabric + waste + CMT
4. Operating expenses = direct cost × 10%
5. Profit markup = (direct cost + operating expenses) × 15%
6. Freight = finished weight in kg × $9
7. Estimated delivered unit price = cost + expenses + markup + freight
2. Waste = fabric cost × 10%
3. Direct cost = fabric + waste + CMT
4. Operating expenses = direct cost × 10%
5. Profit markup = (direct cost + operating expenses) × 15%
6. Freight = finished weight in kg × $9
7. Estimated delivered unit price = cost + expenses + markup + freight
The 15% profit is a markup on cost, not a 15% margin on sales. Waste applies to fabric only. Freight uses net finished product weight, without the waste allowance.
A planning estimate, not a quotation. Product weight is a proxy for fabric consumption; trims and multiple fabrics can distort it. Separate trims, decoration, washing, development, packing, taxes and duties are not added unless you include them in your inputs. Actual freight can depend on packed or volumetric weight, route and minimum charges.
Worked example: 350 g, $8/kg, $5 CMT.
| Step | Calculation | USD / piece |
|---|---|---|
| Fabric | 0.350 × 8 | 2.8000 |
| Waste | 2.8000 × 10% | 0.2800 |
| Direct cost | 2.8000 + 0.2800 + 5 | 8.0800 |
| Operating expenses | 8.0800 × 10% | 0.8080 |
| Profit markup | (8.0800 + 0.8080) × 15% | 1.3332 |
| Before freight | 8.0800 + 0.8080 + 1.3332 | 10.2212 |
| Freight | 0.350 × 9 | 3.1500 |
| Delivered planning estimate | 10.2212 + 3.1500 | 13.3712 |
For 150 pieces the unrounded order estimate is $2,005.68. Displaying $13.37 per unit and multiplying that rounded number produces a slightly different total; the calculator keeps full precision until display.
