The core of a useful tech pack
For a manufacturing review with Tuğhan Textile, include the style name and code, revision, front and back views, fabric construction and composition, weight, colour references, finished measurements, size range, trims, decoration and packing instructions. Link each note to a visible detail. A short, consistent file is more useful than many conflicting documents.
Write measurements that can be repeated
Define each point of measure and how the garment is laid flat. State centimetres or inches, whether dimensions are relaxed or stretched, and whether lengths include a waistband or rib. Show measurement tolerances by point rather than treating all dimensions as equally sensitive.
Build a bill of materials
List the main fabric, lining, rib, zipper, buttons, elastic, cords, labels, thread requirements and packaging where relevant. Record material specifications and placement. A trim that is absent from the file may be omitted from costing or substituted, creating an avoidable dispute later.
Control approvals and unresolved items
State the sample status and list pending decisions. The free builder creates a planning document; a downloaded file is not evidence of factory approval. Confirm the final file revision, physical sample and commercial terms in writing before authorising bulk work.
The difference between an idea file and a production file
An idea file explains what you hope to make. A production file records what has been agreed: revision, front/back visuals, material IDs, colour references, bill of materials, graded measurements, tolerances, construction, decoration placement, label artwork, packing and quantities. Mark every unresolved field. A polished PDF with missing material or measurement decisions is still a development brief, not an approved instruction.
Write a change so the factory can implement it
Refer to the style, revision, sample ID and measurement code. State the current observation, requested target and whether the change affects all sizes. For example: “POM B02 chest width: sample measures 54 cm; target remains 52 cm; confirm grading after correction.” Attach a marked visual for placement changes. Ask for acknowledgement of the latest revision and retain the superseded file to avoid conflicting instructions.
The specification completeness matrix
| File component | Minimum useful information | Approval evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Brand, style code, revision and season | One controlled file revision |
| Views | Front/back and detail views with callouts | Approved construction references |
| Main fabric | Composition, construction, gsm, width, finish | Physical approved swatch / material reference |
| Colour | Colour name, reference system, placement | Approved lab dip / physical standard |
| Measurements | Size range, POM method, values, tolerances | Fit and grading approval |
| Trims | Component dimensions, material, finish, location | Approved trim sample / artwork |
| Decoration | Method, artwork size and measured placement | Approved strike-off / embroidery trial |
| Packaging | Folding, bags, labels, barcode and carton details | Approved packed sample or instruction |
| Care / testing | Intended care and agreed test expectations | Recorded test/approval results |
| Change history | Date, revision, requested change and owner | Final written release |
Three different documents, three different jobs
| Document | What it does | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Tech pack | Describes the product and approved technical requirements | Does not automatically create a legal purchase order |
| Quotation / order confirmation | Defines price, quantity, terms and scope | Does not replace a detailed measurement and construction file |
| Approved sample | Provides an identified physical reference | Does not resolve every omission in an incomplete written file |
Questions, answered
Can I use your builder for free?
Yes. It works without an account and supports a local project backup. PDF and printed exports include a TUGHAN TEXTILE watermark, disclosed before export.
Does the builder automatically create correct patterns?
No. It records your product instructions. Pattern engineering, grading and factory review are separate steps.
What should I write when I do not know the fabric?
Describe the intended use, feel, drape, opacity, care and target budget, attach references and mark material selection as pending. Ask for swatches rather than inventing a composition or GSM.
Can I order directly using the PDF from this tool?
The PDF is a working brief until the manufacturer reviews it and both parties approve the specification, price, quantities and terms. A downloaded file does not place an order.
